We checked in, room/hotel immaculate, everyone very helpful, let us check in 2 hours early, called once we were in room to make sure it was to our satisfaction. Hotel in perfect location for downtown activities and just a short trip to the ferry. Had a wonderful weekend, will go again in the future.

The checkin was somewhat awkward and bombarding with information, a print out of times and offerings would have been nice. The room however was very spacious and open. I enjoyed the layout and comfort of it. The pool is kind of small but there weren't many people at it, so it was enjoyable. I needed directions to Wilmington and the convienence of the  computer with internet and printer was VERY helpful. I would definitely stay here again!

The breakfast was outstanding! The hotel was very clean even with pets staying there. The pool was great. Our family definitely enjoyed the popcorn in the lobby. We love the location, it's not far from the beach we love to visit and there are plenty of restaurants in the area to choose from as well!

We chose to stay at this Hotel since it allowed dogs. We have a little mini dachshund/boston terrier mix who travels with us wherever we go. We were put into a room on the 2nd floor. At 9 am we went to have breakfast - which was better than expected - left the dog in the room. After a half hour went back to the room as housekeeping knocked at the door,  telling us that a room across from us was complaining about our dog barking and if the front desk knew we had a dog. We walked in with one when we checked in!!! She went on to tell us if we have a dog we should be on the first floor - not my fault - I didn't ask for a rom on the 2nd floor. Right after the conversation my husband called the front desk and offered to move to a room at the 1st floor since we don't want to make somebody's stay uncomfortable. The lady told us we can stay in our room but also said the hotel is not a kennel. I was highly offended by that statement and felt very disrespected. On sunday at 5pm we planned on going out for dinner. My husband left his phone number at the front desk - if the dog whines to give us a call. We haven't left the parking lot he calls us telling us there are over 70 other guests in the hotel and need to be respectful. We cancelled our reservation and got food to go. Needless to say the staff is rude, unprofessional and accused us of using the hotel as kennel. There is no designated area for dogs to use the bathroom and people don't pick up after their dog - not the hotels fault but maybe some poop bags will do the trick. Not sure if we will return to this Hotel!!!

it was a very nice hotel, but if you are not a dog person and do not want to hear them barking at night and keeping you awake, this is not the place to stay! I will not stay in a pet friendly hotel again

For our recent North Carolina vacation the only sure thing was I had to find a lighthouse. The Comfort Suites was close to 2. It was only a short drive to Bald Head Island and Oak Island, and the hotel staff was knowledgeable about both, in addition to restaurants and ferries in the area. I loved their pool, their breakfast choices and their clean smelling  room. There are so many other things to do that are within driving distance to the quaint seaside town that we could have been busy non-stop. But we enjoyed the public beaches so much I wouldn't change a thing about our trip.

Short distance to Oak Island (about 7 miles). Hotel is dog friendly but be aware that many pet owners did not clean-up after their pet's "business". Our dog was unable to do her "business" there because she smelled too many others -- of course as soon as we got to the beach on Oak Island she took care of that and we as responsible pet owners cleaned  it up. If you are bringing a pet be sure to call the hotel directly to inform them so they may place you in a "pet-friendly" room -- and then call again before you arrive to make sure. This was the only customer service snag we ran into during check-in but I had the date/time/name of the person I spoke with at the hotel prior to our arrival so it was fixed quickly.

Location was convenient to both Oak Island and downtown Southport, so worked well for what we wanted to do (fish, beach, lighthouses, ferry to Fort Fisher). Room was very clean and comfortable. Staff was moderately knowledgeable about activities in the area. Breakfast selections were of modest quality, but sufficient. We would stay there again.

Very nice personable staff. Our dog had a wonderful visit, too. Only thing lacking was a corckscrew, so we bought one and left it behind the desk for the next guest - now it lacks nothing. :)
